Use what you have before going out and purchasing more stuff. Ask a friend to come help you set up your new space. I lived in Long Beach for a short time about 36 years ago. See if you get any ideas from these sites.

Long Beach is a delightful place to live. Small is not bad, less to clean and maintain. Use only what you need, eliminate all clutter, sell what you don't need for extra cash, don't pay for storage, you could buy new by the time you paid for all the monthly storage fees. For furniture that does not match, paint the same color, remember " shabby chic" . Remember 60 is the new 40 ! Best of luck to you, enjoy your new life !

Well dang, you're not alone Christina! Find some little pieces you really like and think about what you like in Long Beach. Gather colors, themes, but only what you like. There's a lot to like there! Look around on the sites for small apartments like Naomie sent, and start thinking about your "new start". 60 is NOT old girl! I'm just a little bit younger than you and in a few months will be doing the same thing ;) GOOD LUCK!

So sorry, happened to me too. Take your favorite things as suggested. But I'd wait a while on decorating, mainly because you will be surprised on what a transformation you will make. You might find out that maybe the style you've had, you may not like so much. Lol, I put my silverware wherever I want! I know, silly but true. You are going to be just fine!

I would start watching some of the shows on DIY and HGTV about the tiny houses people are building and the things they use to make the most of the space in places that are probably smaller than your tiny apartment! And feel comfortable about using tools, etc., yourself ... I didn't start until I was in my 50s and still enjoy it. You can probably take some adult education courses at your local high school and at Home Depot. You'll learn, and may meet others in your circumstance who can help with advice.

Put your favorite color(s) on the walls. Paint is cheap. Buy inexpensive, pretty plants. Display a few of your favorite things, but don't clutter. Hang simple neutral curtains. Pamper yourself with cozy spaces: A pretty throw on a chair. A bowl of nuts or candies in reach. a fluffy throw rug next to your bed. A place to listen to music. Find some nice thrifts stores to visit regularly for "finds". Be happy, Christina. A new beginning is gift.

Hi! I'm sorry this is happening to you. I also live in a small apartment. I found the kitchen in particular to be a problem as I didn't have any drawers. I bought the fintorp wall hanging system from Ikea to hang all of my cooking utensils. I use the buckets for silverware and the hooks for larger utensils. Just type in coffee cup hanging and there are all different kinds of options. I still had a lot of trouble decluttering, it's a learning process. I'd also suggest getting a couch that both pulls out and has storage for the living room. I had a couch that I loved so I didn't get one, but it would have been very helpful. Ikea also has lots of options for that. Good luck!
