Can anyone identify what was put on fitting?

Trying to remove pipe that was threaded into a copper connector. Someone used something on threads that is hard and will not allow pipe to unscrew.
I don't want to use heat if possible, it is in a tight location and other end of fitting is sweat soldered.

If you cannot use heat you will have to cut it out. A fitting available at your hardware store called Shark Bites requires no heat and can be used on any kind of pipe.

It's blue pipe dope. Made for high vibration pipe connections and dissimilar pipe connections. Practically permanent and hard to break the seal. They also make a red but that is easy to break. Heating will soften the dope and the pipe can be unscrewed. Use wet cloths around the area and apply heat with a torch.

Try goo-gon or nail polish remover

It looks like teflon tape. It keeps the joint or fitting from leaking.
