Painting bricks around the fireplace with interior latex paint?

I did clean and prime first. I used Zinsser all-purpose primer. Is it okay that I used regular interior latex paint as the topcoat over the bricks instead of anything heat-resistant? It is on the outside of the fireplace. Wondering if anyone did the same and whether having a fire damaged the paint job, or if the bricks were damaged from not using special paint.

The only problem you should have would be darkening of the closest bricks if you close the damper and the fireplace begins to smoke. Best wishes ☺️

I would call and ask your paint manufacturer. The help lines are very knowledgeable and helpful. They have helped me numerous times and have even supplied replacement product if the primer or paint failed.
