This guy makes it look easy. I've done it by carefully chipping the grout out with a hammer and screwdriver, then cracking the tile in the center and taking out pieces toward the outer edges. I didn't have any electric tools like he does. I hope this helps.

How many extra tiles do you have? There could be miss cuts and breakage. Since the tile is thick it will be harder to deal with. You'll have to rent a wet saw too. It might be easier to have someone come in and do it, especially if you only have a few tiles left.
As for the peeling walls, did you have an exhaust fan installed? It could be it wasn't installed properly or it isn't big enough for the size of the bathroom. You really need to figure out why they're peeling before you spent the time and money to fix them.
For future reference, a handyman is a jack of all trades and a master of none. Somethings require expertise that only a professional has. Seek out pros that have good recommendations to the important things.
If he doesn't know how to fix it, thats a bummer. Write an appropriate review on line. If he does know how to fix it, he should do the work for free in my view.
