It looks like seed corn.... probably brought in by wild birds... this is normally found in most wild bird seed mixtures... it could also be sorghum the plants are very similar at this stage
I cant see the entire plant, but it looks like a lily of one variety or another, if the part shown is coming directly out of the ground, or like a dracena of some sort if there is a woody stalk below the leaves. If you search "identify sword shaped leaves" you might get a better idea. It also depends on what part of the country this is from...here in the subtropics we have hundreds of sword shaped plants, some blossom, some don't, but they all make interesting garden additions. Drier parts of the country will have more yucca type plants.

The people saying either corn or sorghum are IMO correct. Both plants look quite similar when young.

Hi Patricia, I agree with above comments. It looks like a young stalk of corn. I live in Illinois and corn is everywhere here. We have a saying about corn, "Corn should be knee high by the fourth of July". And your corn stalk looks like it's the right size. Also, once established, the stalk will shoot out roots above ground. They are called Angel's Toes. Best of luck to you.
