Oops! Your question got cut off...maybe you are asking about cooking splatter and grime. A very warm hot water and Dawn dish soap works for a quick wipe down of cabinetry and counters near the stove. For a more in-depth cleaning add a cup of vinegar to the soapy water.

I use a solution of 1 cup ammonia, 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda in 1 gallon of warm water. Use a rag to wipe the grease off. No rinsing and your woodwork will shine.

Wash them frequently with mild soap and warm water. I do wash mine down twice a year (fall and spring) with Old English furniture polish. It is oil based and gives them the cleaning as well as rehydrates them in our dry climate of heat in winter and a/c in summer. It comes in dark or light for the type of wood you have. Also, a little goes a long way. I also use it on my wood furniture, it hides scratches!
