Ready to pull up this old laminate flooring in the kitchen and need some help deciding between two of the armstrong flooring choices pictured. Any suggestions on which one?
IMO, I like the darker one better with your backsplash and wall colour, as long as it is in the same colour tone. The light one seems cool like the backsplash, but I find it too light.
I like the lighter tile which shows shades of beige/greige. I see grey in your backsplash (?). In your photo of tiles against the wall paint, I see light shades of beige in the lighter tile which goes with your paint. I agree, the darker tile pulls down the room. It is easier, more fun to cook in a light/bright kitchen. You can change wall paint much easier and less expensively than changing a backsplash. Your dark countertops can be your "drama" and will really pop. It is your home so follow your heart and gut instincts . . . they will never steer you wrong. Hope this helps.
I see you are trying to coordinate with a wall color and a backsplash that are very different. I think the darker tile is far enough away from the backsplash to look OK if it is the one you like.
- It will be easier to keep clean that the darker one, which will show specks of flour, sugar, thread, etc. more readily.
- The color of the grouting on the lighter tile is more similar to the color of the tile. Whereas, the color of the grouting on the darker tile is a different color than the color of the dark tile. Therefore, as the darker tile is more chopped up looking, it will be busier on the floor, and will make the overall space look smaller. With the lighter tile and grouting being more uniform, it will make the overall flooring space look larger.
- The darker tile has a brown undertone to it. With the trim around the cabinets being grey, and the silver handles, the lighter color tile with its grey undertone will be more complimentary.
You should use ceramic tile because ceramic tile available in various colors and combination and go with darker shade like royal blue , dark blue or brown. It will look so elegant with grey. further you can check here /tile-calculator/.
