Kitchen redo- Anyone have advice?

In the middle of Kitchen redo and having debate with spouse about concrete countertops. I love the look. Spouse thinks it takes toooo long to cure. I know they will be less. Expensive than granite and quartz. Which would be my second choice. I put granite in master bath and I hate it.
Anyone have advice. I’ve watched you tube videos. DIY and talked with others. Any advice to sway spouse to concrete

Put a good sealer on it and it's super durable.
There is actually a quartz that mimics concrete, I saw it on a kitchen in a d.i.y. show. It might be expensive, but you'd get the look you want without the mess.
I agree with Ellis. When you go to sell your home -- and we all eventually do -- people will be turned off by/frightened of/skeptical of/ the notion of concrete (don't ask me why; in 15 years of running a business, I learned that there is no figuring out some people). But if you can tell them it is QUARTZ that just LOOKS like concrete, they will have no problem. Go figure. -- retired interior decorator
A friend of mine did concrete countertops because she loved the look of them too. Now that she has them, she hates them. I don't know all the reasons why, but I do remember her saying it chipped or scuffed too easy.
Everyone has an opinion on countertops and their "need" for upscale stone seems to vary by area. I would see too, if you can find something that gives the look of concrete, but isn't concrete.

We rented a beautiful house in Vieques, Puerto Rica, for several seasons. The owners planned to retire there and redid the kitchen with concrete counters. When we arrived that winter, I was horrified. To begin with, they made the kitchen very dark and dull looking. Most of all, I guess their contractors didn't let the concrete cure long enough, or perhaps a really good sealer was needed before the counters were used. In any case they were spotted everywhere from food spills, rings from pots, and the like. No matter how hard I tried, the counters looked dirty. For what it's worth, that was my only experience with concrete counters.
