Really need to determine where the smell is coming from first. All drains should be vented properly so they don't smell at all. If they're stinky there's the chance your vent is plugged (perhaps on the roof) and I would definitely get that looked out or clean it out. If you think its just in the drains themselves you could try replacing the trap at the bottom of the sink, something gunky stuff does build up on the insides of pipes and cause them to be a little smelly. There is also the option to try draino too.

Vinegar and Baking soda together, sprinkle about 2tbls of b.s. down the drain then pour about 3 caps full of vinegar, let sit for at least a half hr.

  • I pour baking soda down every drain and toilets once a month. I replace the boxes from the fridge and freezers and add to the sinks, bathtubs and toilets.

Use the little plastic thing with barbs that removes hair from the bathroom sink and tub drains until you get no more hair. Put down at least a quarter cup of baking soda and follow with at least a half cup vinegar. Let is fizz and do it's work until it quits. Follow with a gallon of boiling water. That should take care of all the gunk that can get smelly in the drains and traps. If the sink or tub/shower isn't used very often, it could be that the water that is normally in the pipes has dried up and that can release a sewer smell. If they aren't used much, think about running some water down the drains on a fairly regular basis.. I hope this helps you get rid of the smell!

After you let the vinegar and baking soda set.... follow with really hot water.... boiling would be best... it help greasy stuff... dissolve and move along....

BUT... if all of the drains are stinky.... then it is a bigger issue... and you need to get it checked out.

I have a tub that I do not use. I must run the water every month so that the drain does not dry up. I also clean my bathrooms with Vinegar, dawn and water, and that keeps smells at bay.

  • I use vinegar, baking soda and/or lemon juice. Sometimes, you just have to get down and pull the much out (use a snake down the drain to see if something is stuck in there causing the odor)
