You can paint the cabinet, prime it first with Kilz and then paint. Add new handles and pulls - just like new!
I used the Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformations kit in Cabernet to redo my bathroom vanity. I then changed out my lighting fixture, faucet, and found an old mirror at a second hand store. I even used the paint on my shelf in the bathroom.
