They like to take over large areas! I had some in a space that was surrounded by the house on one side, door steps on two, and the driveway on the other. They did great at first, but then it just seemed like they were sad that they couldn't spread any further. They got really tall and spindly and weren't very pretty anymore, mostly because all but the one tall variety died off. At another home I had them where there was more space and they just took over everything. I hope the next people to live there didn't have an issue with them! I'm guessing that pots being even smaller would be even harder for them. They are called "wild" for a reason.

Many wildflowers need their seeds to go through a cold period before they will germinate- this is called stratification. Plant the seeds in the fall and you may have better success next spring. You can also put your seeds in the refrigerator for a day or two and then plant them. Barely cover them and mist the seeds often with a spray bottle of water to keep moist till they sprout. Hope this helps & good luck to you!
