I have a killer 70s bathroom with bland yellow countertops and white cabinet with layers of oil paint And an old glass door shower. Need a makeover for them or at least one which is the guest bathroom .

Paint the countertop, replace shower door with shower curtain and put a matching rug in front of shower and sand then repaint cabinets to compliment the shower curtain. Example, shower curtain with blue designs, shower rug to match one of the colors in the curtain, a different shade painted on the cabinets. Throw an accent color in in the form of the color of towels and things like toothbrush holders, etc.

Looks like you have charcoal ceramic tiles...can be expensive to replace... let's leave them.

I would paint the walls a light gray (remember grays can be blue, green, etc). Then I would use black paint on the cabinets and change out the hardware, remove the countertop and replace with a solid piece of countertop according to your budget. Now picture it with a bowl sink set on top, perhaps a hammered silver one (cost around $100) and a stand up faucet. This provides real WOW factor. On to the shower stall... I would simply etch your last name initial onto the doors. Just my thoughts and a very inexpensive way to update. Linda

A friend of mine redid her whole bathroom on a budget for her mom's room. It turned out great and she had some new ideas she incorporated in it that I love, but have never seen before she did hers. This might help give you some ideas to consider: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/bathroom/bathroom-paint-and-li-l-creative-update-under-30-36047306?r=2 Hope this will get your started on some ideas of your own too!

I'd get rid of the shower doors and put up a curtain, and, if it's in your budget, pull the sink and sink cabinet out and replace with modern, dark cabinet with updated hardware. Go to the Restores and other budget places to find a bowl sink (or updated regular) sink on sale. Paint the area your favorite color and splurge on some great towels and shower curtain to complement the room. You're golden!

You can stencil or etch the shower doors.

Instead of taking out the doors you could hand a shower curtain for looks but it would take away the light in the shower.

Paint the cabinets and get new hardware.

Small rugs for the floor are easy to wash and replace.

    I would keep it light.

Replace the lighting sometimes found on free online or garage sales or clearance in the store.

Decorate the walls with landscape or your favorite photos that are moisture proof.

Like tin or resin pieces that are decorative. Again yardsales.

You can get moulding and place around either or both mirrors to make a framed mirror for depth and be interesting.

Some back splash tile could spruce it up too.

    Lots of ideas.

Just thibk of what you want your bath to be.

A spa experience, nature preserve, light and chedry, beach or seaside theme, ocean creature theme?

Then slowly do projects as you are inspired Or the budget allows.

    Please share what you do!

    Good luck!

    One more thing.

You have a white bathroom tub, toilet and sink.

With the dark floor and yellow?

cabinets it doesn't have a color theme or pallet.

Stick to colors that go well with what you choose so it flows nicely and looks great.

I agree with a lot of the other comments, and have a few more. I would frame the mirror and get rid of the medicine cabinet, if it won't be to much of a problem. Paint the walls to compliment the floor, but no rugs; the floor is nice. I wouldn't both taking the shower doors off, just hang a shower curtain in front of them, that makes a statement, (focal point), according to your decor, and choose towels of multiple colors that are in the curtain. Above the toilet you could use floating shelves or a longer narrow picture, to create length. A new counter top, vessels sink and faucet would look great. (The granite places have remnants). Last but not least, I would loose the cabinet doors, paint the cabinet a light color to match your theme. Then put one shelf across the middle, inside the cabinet. Stack rolled towels on the top shelf, and baskets on the bottom; for your toiletries. Wooden or wicker baskets can be painted if you like. Good luck and have fun!!

Mine was similar. I opened up the entire room by putting in a “wet room” which means a shower in one corner with no curtain or doors but rather with an ever so slightly slanted floor to catch the water flow to the drain. You can have a safety glass for a splash guard kind of thing installed if you like but only a single non moving one to keep the open look. Then I had little cabinets punched into the walls between the 2X4’s inside the walls and stored things needed in bathrooms. This saved space and made the room flow. Took the sink out and had a floating shelf put in and sink on top. Not expensive depending on what you choose. You can get gold pipes online or spray paint any color you’d like. Enjoy your space☺️

I am a firm believer in working with what you can not change an enhancing

it to the best it can be and not hiding it, covering it up or just ignoring it, and in this case it would be your floor. I would pick the green out of your tile and go much lighter in the same family and choose a darker variation for accents.

I hate shower doors but it looks like you only have a shower, not a tub so the doors a necessary.

If you like color, murals are sold that have all kinds of scenery. Just be sure they are vinyl and won't mildew or come loose with moisture. You could do woodland, floral, artsy... And apply it on the shower doors. Then paint the rest of the room to compliment the colors in the mural.

I just re-surfaced a bathroom vanity and a wet bar countertop with Diach Spreadstone. You have to sand the surface, then use their primer, then the stone layer, then a topcoat. Mine is in a guest bathroom that won't get much use, but we love the look and I read hundreds of reviews and it seems to hold up well for people. There is a fairly good range of colors to choose from. I had never done a project like it and I thought it was pretty easy to do. I ordered it direct from the company but I believe it's also on amazon. One kit has covered a one sink vanity top and a two level wet bar, and I believe I have enough to do one more bathroom. I think it was just over $100.

Take down the sliding doors to the shower and hang a shower curtain.

Keep the floor, it is beautiful.

The hardware is dated, so change it out.

Paint to match the floor and shower curtain.

    You need a new faucet.

The mirrored medicine cabinet needs replacing.
