The walls run into each other in this open concept. Cabinets are light oak and the wall is a bright yellow. The wall in the living room is a med gray. My accessories are aqua, stainless steel and copper. Thank you.

Wow did that yellow hit me in the eyeballs! Choose a similar gray like the nearby room, going a shade darker. Will that go with the granite?

Wow! So much opportunity here! This is really personal preference and what you want to see in your home.

First, it's going to depend on how much you want to spend. You can tile the backsplash either with real tile (more expensive option), or use peel and stick tile (less expensive option). You could use a paint finish or paint stir sticks for a shiplap effect. Decide on something that's going to coordinate with your existing countertops if those aren't being changed out.

I'd probably use the grey walls from the living room and use a contrasting colour in the kitchen, but it's really personal preference. What colours are you drawn to? Do you like the grey and could you live with a contrast or the under-hue of the grey in your kitchen?

Good luck! Post some pics when you're underway so we can see what you've decided!

Paint the walls your favorite color. It's YOUR kitchen. Make yourself happy. As long as it is washable, use whatever pleases your eye for a backsplash. Gray is a neutral color, so whatever you do in the kitchen should not conflict with your choice of color. My only concern would be not conflicting with the colors of your countertop in the backsplash. Ideas for a backsplash: stone (I used pebbles to create a backsplash at our cottage; tile (there are so many choices; wood (use at least a couple coats of polyurethane over it); metal; pennies; etc. Your imagination is your limit. Good luck and move forward fearlessly. The only person who needs to love and enjoy it is you!

After a kitchen fire, I had the same problem. I love what I did. White rectangular tiles (in your kitchen, I would do both walls, unless there isn't a natural break between it and another room). These tiles were the cheapest I could find. So easy to clean up. And, to make it YOURS, find narrow tiles and put them about 4 inches in a line going around the bottom using your colors (agua, copper, and/or stainless steel (although I've never seen stainless steel in those tiles). There are all kinds of options out there. And if you can dig up some more money, there are all kinds of scenes of tiles that may really make it yours. My kitchen couldn't handle a scene, but my daughter's kitchen did and it is gorgeous (over her stove). Good luck .

Grays come with shades of blue, green, purple.... It looks like your countertop has green in it. So try a gray with a green hue for the walls. If you really like copper, there are copper panels you could use for the backsplash.

Also waterproof wallpaper that can be bought in copper or painted copper.

I have light oak cabinets and a similar countertop and used FASADE PANELS on my wall behind counter and around my window. They are easy to cut and put up plus waterproof.

I painted my kitchen in wahable white bathroom paint. Then I bought pewter paint and used a sea sponge to blot on the pewter. Everone wants to know where I bought my wallpaper! You can use any color of gloss to blot with. The pewter is reflective and keeps it light.

Did you do the whole wall or just for the backsplash. Would you be able to show a picture.

I would use a light color im the white, brown or gray family. ( Just an idea , uou can paint your cabinets and that opens up so many more opportunities )

As far as the tile I like subway tiles. They come in some really nice shades.

They also have a tile that looks like a tear drop. That would be pretty also.

Then after you do that. Shop for new drawer pulls.

That will top off your new kitchen.

    Good luck.

I vote for grey paint maybe one shade off from other room, either darker or lighter. Then I would use variegated tile backsplash, using the colors in your countertop. Have you seen the peel n stick that look like stone? Very pretty and inexpensive too - depends on your budget. Good luck & would like to see finished product!

Personally I don’t think shiplap makes a good kitchen backsplash. Faux shiplap would work tho! Look at Nuwallpaper where you can get all different kinds of looks. Another peel n stick product! Lol. Easy to use, like heavy contact paper; easy to move around; easy to remove; durable; and easy to clean. Just a thought.

I painted the kitchen one day and the next I poured the platnum paint in a disposable plastic storage container (2/$1@ Dollar Tree). I used the sponge like a stamper. Over and over until I liked thw effect!

I used brushed nickel. I got the panels at Home Depot because they had the color I wanted in stock. Lowes also has them. You can order the colors you want from either store if they don't stock them.
