Several "buttons" on my microwave don't work. Is it worth repairing ?

There isn't an apparent pattern. Ex. "3", popcorn and light buttons don't work, while ajacent options do.

Perhaps worth repairing if built into cabinetry or wired so that you need an electrician for replacement. If just a counter top model...lots of inexpensive new options out there or consider a thrift store model if cost concerns you. Personally I would not try to repair on my own, although there are some parts available.

At the price of microwaves these days, it would probably cost you more to have it repaired...that is if you can find a person to do it!

Call the manufacturer, have ready the model number , they have service reps standing by to advise you.

If your unit is too old, consider replacing it.

I'll give it a try (when I find the needed info). Thanks for this suggestion.

If your handy you may be able to replace the keypad yourself. Otherwise it would be cheaper to just replace it.

Just type in you model number. There are repair guides and replacement parts. This is my go to site.

If you have to hire someone, the cost of repairing them would likely be more than the cost of a new microwave. Because of issues like that, even thrift stores often won't take old microwaves, so they become a landfill issue. You can use 2:59 for three minutes, and :29 for thirty seconds. If no other buttons go out, you could probably extend its life for quite some time.

Thanks Brenda, that's kind of what I'm doing now. I hope you're right about it lasting for some time.😁

This was what I was afraid of. I don't need a money pit if it's on a down hill slide. Thank you for replying.

  • Hey lana, Hopefully the whole control panel doesn't go out on you😕 Wal-Mart has microwaves for about 30 bucks if all else fails. Mine went out about a year ago and I never did replace it. We've got 5 boys so now the bigger ones are learning to use the oven for their pizza pockets and whatnot. I do miss the convenience but I prefer the extra counter space as i have a small kitchen. Good luck!
