For the sink, you might paint the cultured marble with a tub and tile kit. To makeover the vanity, sand out any peeling paint or imperfections, prime it with an oil based primer like Kilz, and paint with a quality paint. I love Benjamin Moore Advance Alkyd. :)
Get your measurements and go to a big box home improvement store for your items. Look over their inventory or go through their order catalog for your new look. Depending on your budget, get the look you can afford. Check your local big box store markdown departments or go to your local thrift or salvage stores for your sink, etc. Unless you‘re an expert, measure twice and go shop within your budget. Look through second hand stores or wherever you can maximize what you have to spend. There are lots of thrift store, resale shops, st Vincent de Paul, Goodwill etc. you can find an antique dresser, modify it, put a faux countertop on it and fixtures from a resale shop and you will love your new look!!! Yes! You can still stretch a dollar!!
Good ideas here. If you’re not very handy you might try painting the cabinets and switching out the knobs. That should do until you tire of this look too! Good luck!
My daughter in law scuffed up her vanity top with a little sandpaper. She actually used acrylic paint and a plastic shopping bag balled up. Just like sponge painting. She would tap on one color at a time, didn’t wait for it to dry before tapping on next 2 colors( she used gray, black and white) when it dried she coated it with shellac. It came out Great !!! She painted the wood cabinets and changed the hardware, it looks like a brand new kitchen!!
I agree with Vicky's reply - slave over the prep work, practice the painting on the vanity top -- Also paint the cabinets, inside and out, removing all hardware first please!, Buy any old knobs you like and paint it the same color as the doors -- Shop for bargains and be patient -- buy a sleek, new chrome faucet, change the mirror and the lighting, that's adding to the dated appearance. No offense intended...lose the decorations and keep only soap and a fresh hand towel nearby. Voila just like the magazines!!
Painting the cabinets would up date the look there..... a new counter top... most stone yards/stone counter top locations have remnants that they sell at greatly reduced prices... find a nice granite, quartz, marble, etc... to fit your space... and then put in a new sink... a vessel sink sits on top of the counter... so that can raise the sink level for some one that is tall.... or an over or under mount sink... the stone yard can cut the sink hole for you...(at an extra cost)... then just add new faucets...
It looks like you could adapt the vanity for double sinks... vessel sinks would leave more room on the interior of the cabinet for storage.. (but the vanity would need to be modified for the plumbing)

I wish I had DIY talent, but I was blessed (cursed) with the ability to catch misspellings, grammar mistakes, and the improper use of their, there, and they're. Best of luck on your project. Use beadboard wallpaper and joint compond for a textured look and do your favorite color, just have fun
