In the past we made a raised bed that is falling apart and is full of weeds! Made it out of scrap wood, untreated.

If you use wood, it should be untreated, as you used before. How about concrete blocks? We built raised beds for a relative in a wheelchair. We used 4x4s at the corners, 5/8" plywood for the sides. But, picture this: concrete blocks with the squar holes, two staced for each corner, then the 4x4s into the holes. Plywood sides and bottom with many holes drilled in it for drainage. Made the top of the plywood 24-28 inches, this allowing for the wheelchair. Used regular garden soil for planting medium and he had vegetalbes! I hope this gives you some ideas. I personally don't see the point in having "raised" beds that are 8-12 inches high! Let's get them up where we can work on 'em? You could stack the blocks up as hight asyou wanted and then fillw ith soild, but you will have to use dome stakes (preferably metal) to keep the blocks from slipping.

OOPS! that untreated is an open invitation for the termites. get rid of those and get treated 10" boards. these WILL last a LONG time, so pay for it now and get the problems over with on the untreated wood.

Better yet and not harmful invest in Cedar wood. I have seen that Costco has a plastic kit. It's pretty big can be one 12 foot or 2 6 foot.

If you want one to assemble then I can tell you that I purchased an actual raised bed,by that I mean it is on legs and is at least 3ft tall no taller because about 8 inches deep. I love it,it is all no tools required and simple to do I did it myself. It's not huge though it's roughly 2x4ft I have 2 tomato plants 2 pepper plants 2 basil and 1 tarragon plant. Now let me just say that I am not a gardener, so I now realize that with the proper arrangement I could have gotten more herbs or at least 1 more tomato plant in it. They are doing very well. So I purchased it at Menard for 149.00 2 was later were on sale for mothers day at 99.00 so check them out if not in person online. If I didn't mention it is complete cedar and made so that the planks on the bottom have just enough space to allow water to flow and we had about what felt like 2 weeks of rain or storms. Yet it's all good I filled with a combo of organic matter certified, and peat moss. Had never done that don't look forward to doing again yet want to purchase another one. It's perfect for me because I have epilepsy and my balance is terrible. And I would constantly sway forward or backward and fal, while pulling weeds. So if anyone is looking for a small ,up from the gtound, perfect for handicapped or elderly people you love. I know it's not cheap but it's going to last and I figure I can eventually reach four which should be plenty for us. And so far no weeds ! 👌💚

You can even use treated wood for a vegetable garden. Just put the garden plastic, not the fabric, in the area of the wood to keep the bad chemicals from leaching into the soil.
