My version is the lazy way. Boiling water or plain old vinegar. I just killed my old lawn off with vinegar and used a pump sprayer. Easy, quick and inexpensive.

1 gallon white vinegar and 1 cup Epsom salt and 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap Combine ingredients in
spray bottle and treat weeds at the hottest time of day for best results.
Rose, try vinegar, not the one for your salad, but household vinegar to solve the calcium in your bathroom. That is stronger. Success
remember the white vinegar one cannot be used on grass or around plants
I posted to another questioner that salt is sometimes used to sterilize soil so nothing grows in that spot. Have any of you experienced this?
