How can I remove rust and old paint from metal?
I was given older heavy lawn table and chairs, the table has a criss cross metal top with lots of paint on it. I just love it, how do I remove it to restore.
Hi Stella, you will want to hit that rusted metal with a steel brush and than sand paper and get ALL of the rust off that you can. After that they make paints specific for metal. Rustoleum comes to mind, its very good at what it does though it is pricey.
Rustolleum comes as a spray paint and a brush on product choose the one that’s best for your product.
Sand off as much of the rust that you can then clean well n dry before painting
clean the rest first, apply a primer for metal, allow to dry ,use a paint for metal
After your cleanup of the rust use the RustOleum rust proof primer before your final paint color.
