Looks like a ginger plant
It's definitely crocosmia - also known as mumbretia. It is gorgeous and I have as many as I can around the garden. Propogate by lifting out of the ground after the leaves die back, separate the corms and replant.
Thanks Dee and Nan! I am really excited to own this. We bought this home last fall, and I have enjoyed discovering the planted treasures, but this is the best! I will love sharing it with my friends and appreciate the info on propogating. Dee, I know the common flowers, but this had me stumped!
Wow Sus! It's a gorgeous crocosmia lucifer! Here's a link with some info: http://www.perennials.com/plants/crocosmia-lucifer.html
I agree with everyone on it being a crocosmia lucifer.
It is spiderwort. Nice because it blooms off and on all summer.
