How can I remove amber color from glass table tops?

I am refinishing some wood end tables with Amber glass tops to a beachy theme and adding a panel underneath with sand coat and shells/starfish etc. I want the glass to be clear instead of amber colored so you will be able to see the theme plate better. Any ideas of how to remove the color from the glass? I even considered trying to glass paint them with a light almost translucent blue to mimic water but my BF told me they would just turn out brown because of the amber... HELP!
I agree with your BF. The amber glass colour can not be removed. It was manufactured to have this darker semi-opaque look. If you have your heart set on clear glass, then I would suggest you take one of the amber pieces to a glass shop and simply ask them what the price would be to cut 2 clear pieces the exact size. Your amber pieces have bevelled edges, which are easier to work with, and are conventional for this style of table. But you might want to ask what the price difference may be between straight edges and bevelled edges.
Flipturn makes a good point, the amber color glass will not be masked in any way, your best option is to replace the amber tops with clear tops.
Both of these responders are absolutely correct. The amber color is chemically part of the glass itself -- it is not removable. Follow Flipturn's advice, and get new pieces cut. Especially if you go with straight edges, two pieces the size you need shouldn't cost you more than $20 or so.
Take one of the tops to a glass cutter. Get another piece cut in clear. Pretty inexpensive.

Have 2 pieces cut to fit at your local glass and mirror shop. Cost will be determined by size, thickness and decorative edging options.
You can go to Lowes and they cut glass for what ever size you need. Just take the measurements. I've done it and it's easy.
Wow💡thanks for the advice. I was trying to wash the amber off of a small light and it wouldn’t come off. I have a beach house 🏡 and I was wondering if anyone could help me with a couple of ideas? I am taking a few pictures to give you any ideas about my beach decor and the lighting! I am going to take a few pictures any and all help would be greatly appreciated!! And the outside of the lights , I was thinking of changing to clear but possibly painting the base of the lights. Thanks again
