How to Use a Pantry Organizer in Your Bathroom

My daughter’s bath has plenty of storage. It has a large linen closet with a door next to the vanity. Even though there is lots of storage inside, it isn’t conducive to getting ready in the morning and for the nightly routine. This leads to the entire vanity top being covered with beauty products, cleansers and more. I felt if there was a way to keep things close at hand and in sight, we both might be happy. Now is this Instagram picture worthy? No, not all. But, is it a functional teen bathroom and are mom and teen happy with the solution? Absolutely! I apologize in advance for the dark “after“ pictures. It is difficult to make a windowless bathroom look bright in pictures.

I started with this pantry rack at Target. When I located it in the store, it was $38.99 but they price matched to the online price at customer service. The nice thing about this rack is that you can separate the parts into 3 separate shelving organizers.

All you need are 2 things for this project. I bought one can of Rusteoleum spray paint in Aged Copper and the organizer. The organizer comes with everything needed to hang it on the back of a door or on the wall.

I tried to put everything as close together as possible so I wouldn’t waste paint.

I ended up buying a second can but if I hadn’t wasted so much paint on overspray, it probably wouldn’t have been necessary. When laying out the pieces, you want them very close together.

The color was just what I wanted but there are so many choices out there that if you have something else in mind, go for it!

This is a re-enactment of the vanity top. I didn’t think to take a picture before I put the shelves up. I don’t have pictures of putting them up but you use the wall anchors provided and a level to keep both brackets even.

Ta da! Still easily accessible!

I used IKEA hooks to hang some brushes, flat iron and blow dryer.

Hard room to photograph because it is a Jack and Jill bath with no windows.

I decided the silver screw stuck out too much. I sprayed some spray paint in a plastic Dixie cup and used a q tip to touch up the screws. OMG 😯 don’t use a plastic cup and then set the cup on your counter. Use a cardboard paper cup. This happened in seconds...

The paint ate through the cup. I didn’t realize it and moved the cup all over the counter as I painted screws.

😂 I had paint circles all over the counter top. They came off quickly though. icon

Best of all, since I only needed 2 in her bath, I have one leftover for my craft room. Everything in this picture is leftover after putting up my daughter's shelves. I didn't want to use valuable wall space in this room so I mounted on the back side of a rolling shelf unit. It doubled the efficiency of this rolling 5 shelf unit. I love it! icon
