What can I do to keep the hot Fl sun from splitting my wood front door

I already had installed a storm door & had it tinted but it still gets very hot with the sun beating down on it.
Need some type of roof, overhang?
I would cover the front porch area, extending the roof completely over top of it. You can put in a couple recessed lights.
Yes, shade and protection from the elements is what is needed. With the sun hitting the glass in your storm door and moisture caught between the two doors the heat is more intense causing damage. An awning would be nice but before you go the expense of adding awnings or a roof how about pricing a new fiberglass door? You may come out ahead and get a new look in the process.
I vote a portico or larger overhang. It will not only save the door, but keep guests a bit dryer as well.
Below is a portico that’s rather large for you, but the lines are simple. I think it could be charming if you used pillars on either side Instead of side supports. Likely a bit safer for wind, as well.

it looks so pretty that I don’t like to suggest painting it white, but that might help. It would reflect, rather than absorb, a lot of the heat.
Your storm door may be making it worse. When I went to buy a door for my cottage, they told me that adding a storm door, even a tinted one, would void the warranty due to heat build-up.
You could also just get an awning for over the door.
