Tips for fixing Bathroom tile on a budget?

Our home was built in 1946 and the tile above the tub is yellow with a pink trim. The floor is red Spanish tile and the counter tops are patterned multi colored Spanish tiles. We need some advice about how to fix it. We are retired and on a fixed budget so can't afford a rip out and renovation. HELP

There is a tub and tile paint that the HD and Lowes sells. You could paint and seal the tiles any color that you want. Rustoleum also makes a tub and tile paint. Probably going to be tedious but worth the fix.

Hi Linda, Spanish type tiling is still popular, but sounds as though you do need to tone it down a bit. Maybe you might like to consider - sticky back plastic tile covers if you don't want to re-tile over or paint..........

This is a very good suggestion as well. Would you know where I could find these sticky back tile covers?

Rustoleum offers a tile paint for that

I would paint the pink trim either white or use your Spanish Floor tile burnt orange color. Get Rustoleum Tub n Tile paint and have it tinted.

I would rip off the countertop, and purchase or make a new one. It could be an interesting piece of wood with a bar top epoxy waterproof finish, you could buy a new laminate one at Home Depot/Lowes, you could use a piece of exterior plywood and tile it to either match the yellow shower or the spanish tile floor, or you could finish it with epoxy paint and then add a bar top clear coat top. Get a cool southwest shower curtain to bring it all together... https://www.twinkledeals.com/shower-curtains-cc201/?refine=1933_brown

Thank you for your awesome suggestions. I didn't know that Rustoleum had a tub and tile paint.

Love the Spanish tiles. You can paint the walls and floor with Rustoleum or Homax tub and tile paint kit. You can also paint the Spanish tile if you don't like them.

What I would do and have done, is purchase Mapei Grout Refresh. It comes in many colors. You can buy it on Amazon [they have the most colors] Floor and Decor and Lowes. carries 3-4 colors. It is not hard to do just tedious. Use an artist brush and work small sections at a time. It does not need sealing because that is built in.

I would also just clean the tiles really well, with vinegar, dawn and water, or bleach. You could buy an epoxy paint kit for tiles, but not sure that would last long.
