What can I use to Cover for counter top?

Hi Sally depending on the material of your current countertops you could probably paint them! They actually make kits now just for painting laminate old counter tops to make them look like stone :)

Redoing counter tops are not typically an "easy" project... and to try and cover over ones that are chipped or damaged makes the project harder still... a stone look will probably only be possible by replacing them with one of the new Formica tops that look like granite or stone (least expensive way) the only other option would be a concrete tor cement overlay... and that will be a rather involved process to make them look good.

or a cheaper way I found was to just buy little samples of a few different colors of paint, first prime your counter top, then start with your different paints and when you get what you like, let dry and finish with a few coats of poly. I did both my bathroom counter tops and 3 years and still holding up great, also did a set of kitchen counter tops and 2 years later and all good

Your counter tops look amazing. I don't know what you mean by different samples of paint. You must have painted a pattern on them yourself. Very clever. However, I have now ordered a special kit of stone-looking pain for counter tops so shall have to see how it turns out. It was more expensive than your project though, I am sure Thanks.

Depending where chips are, I would sand the area & Spackle the holes or chips. Let dry, sand just enuf to smooth & be level- then sand entire counter. Clean it up. Paint it.

I had an island top that was chipped and cracked & I did this. I did use several coats of paint. Sprayed some Gold Metallic - tried to mist butit became spray - it does NOT adhere to the paint! - so go lighter spray than you'd think. I used small roller & high gloss water based Poly - this takes the gold powder & spreads it around as well as protecting. After completely dry, sand LIGHTLY and poly again. After 3 coats & sanding,I added a little white paint to try to make a vein. Oh well. When dry, poly, sand, poly again. NOT HARD just time consuming.
