The metal posts can easily be replaced with wooden posts then you build the structure to attach the screen out of the same construction grade lumber, spaced to fit the size of the screen and framed for the door.
Oh, fun! Make a 4" x 4" box around the ugly metal posts or whatever size lumber makes a sturdy rectangle. Make these snug, probably liquid nails type construction glue, as they are going to support your walls.
Does your porch have a roof already? I'm assuming so, from the way you describe it. Your boxes need to cover from floor to ceiling, so buy that length lumber. Are your floors cement? I'm assuming so, and that that is what your ugly metal posts are standing in.
Next you'll need 2" x 4"s glued and screwed -drill first - on the outer edge of the porch for your sill plate. Another 2 x 4 for the top plate. Then toenail in at least 3 nails, 2 on one side, the third opposite, for each joist, into the sill and top plates. Now, you can go as simple or fancy as you want. You could get an 8' tall roll of screening and a staple gun, and be done in an afternoon.
I'd suggest living with the room a little bit before you decide how much to go. Put a comfy chair out there, try different spots, and let the room tell you what it wants to do to please you. Take pictures along the way and share your results with us!
You could always wrap them with hollow wood posts.

Oh, my mother had those wrought iron trellises! They were black for the longest time and then she painted them pink to match the house. They were her pride and joy. Hand made wrought iron was quite expensive back in the 70's. Maybe still is?
Make sure there's no rust on them now, since you're putting them out of sight. What are the dimensions of your porch?
No rust, I had measure the w74 ,and the L 171
12,654 sq,

if the posts are in good condition, you have 2 choice: cover them as someone suggested (wood or even bricks) or paint them another color.
Thank you, very much for the information.
Replace the metal posts with wood posts. From there you can frame out for the screened porch. Wrapping them is extra work you don't need. Also check your building codes. They can even advise you on building the structure.
Thanks, I was wondering about just replacing it ,instead of building around it .
