Want to change out vertical blinds in picture window-suggestions

The window does not have enough space to hang blinds . The window also faces the road so need something that can close .

I'm not a big fan of vertical blinds or curtains and I don't know how this would work on a picture window, but on our sliding glass doors we replaced the vertical blinds with shoji doors. We built them ourselves and there are plans available online, however instead of rice paper, we used those plastic light diffusers that are for the large fluorescent fixtures. The doors are lightweight, provide privacy and keep out the sun in the afternoon. We found everything we needed for this project at Lowe's (including the track on which the doors are mounted). I've included a pic of our shoji doors.
