Sliding Barn doors for small bathroom entry

Looking for some advice or even tutorials on installing a sliding barn door, or some
other type of door for a bathroom with a relatively small amount space around it. These bi-fold doors have got to go and not sure we want to deal with a pocket door. Thank you!

Doesn't look like u have enough wall space for a slider, but if u do I would use these same doors....appears they will let light in without seeing in. We ordered the slider for our master bathroom door and used the same door but added some trim...not only did it make it a bit wider to,cover the opening it gave us some real wood to screw the upper bolts into. Appears u have no room on one side and limited on the other side. Once u measure how much opening u could slide your door over u will know if feasible. I do like those doors u have....if you add more support no issues with them bending. Good luck with this issue.

Yeah, I was concered about the space. We just bought our home 2 months ago and these doors were not our preference. They aren’t terrible but don’t provide any sound or light barrier, and are easily popped off the track by our toddler 😉

I installed a sliding barn door going into a small master bath and it really helped with my limited space in bathroom. But I had more wall space than it looks like you do to slide my door over (my door & wall space look like the one in the video posted by Janet). Do you perhaps have more wall space on the inside wall of your bathroom? Not sure how that would look from your bedroom looking in, but its a thought. BTW I hardly ever shut my sliding door since its inside my master bedroom but I sill love the look of the barn door! Good luck.

You are definitely limited on what you can do. It doesn't look as if you have room for a pocket door either. How do you feel about the glass panels in your current doors? Covering them with fabric or wallpaper would certainly change the look.

The main thing I was hoping to achieve was blocking some sound and light from the bathroom into the bedroom, but it does seem like we are very limited with our choices due to the small wall space outside

Hi Molly. I recently installed a barn door from my bedroom to bath and I love it. I have a DIY post if you'd like to check it out http://beautyforasheshome.com/barn-door-installation/

Could you put the slider on the other side of the wall? I did that when I remodeled.

You could get a different set of bi-folds that are more substantial and install as french doors rather than bi-fold by hanging them with hinges on the door frame.
