granite tops have a clear finish applied, so you ant to protect that finish. granite appears to be a hard surface, but it will soak up liquids if left on like overnight. just use sense in cleaning it.
Only use products specifically made for granite and make sure they say ‘food safe’ some granite cleaners are for flooring, etc. Do not use Windex or bleach. Buy the products MADE for this use alone.
Also I would invest in a granite sealer in case you use too harsh a chemical. Then you can fix it afterwards. I would use a liquid like dawn (couple drops) in a bowl of warm water. Do not use ammonia or vinegar or baking soda etc.
I clean professionally and nearly every house has granite. Do not use alkali such as bleach or soap scum remover and don't allow acids to sit such as lemon, vinegar or tomato. Dish soap is neutral, that's good. I also use a mix of water, alcohol, vinegar and dish soap. This is near neutral and I don't allow it to sit on the surface for long periods of time. Honestly, water is often mildly acid and shouldn't sit either. Otherwise, relax and enjoy your granite. Reapply sealer frequently.

Do not use Comet or other such powdered abrasive cleaners.
