The house I purchased the kitchen was already completed except for updated appliances. Well when I went looking for a bigger one and started measuring the area where the old one is there isn't room for anything bigger except 18 cubic foot refrigerator. There are cupboards or appliances on three walls and two windows and a side door on the only open wall. How can I do this without tearing apart all these beautiful cabinets they just put in. As the previous owners didn't account for needing a bigger fridge in a 4 bedroom 2 Story House. Somebody please help me I need a bigger refrigerator and have no place to put it what do you do in a case like this has it's barely 32in wide to put one in help please help. This is my first home I'm 48 years old I work so hard to get this house and you keep it that there is not any room for a budget in this redo any ideas anybody please

  • Congratulations on your new home! Can you post a photo? We might be able to figure something out. I have 2 refrigerators myself, one in the kitchen and one in the garage - and I live by myself! Yes I use both.

Get the smaller frig, and add some refrigerated drawers to one of the lower cabinets...... or rip out the cabinet next to frig spot and put it somewhere else. Its not that hard to move a cabinet and it doesn't even have to be marked up to do it. Only other move is to put it in the garage.

There are options available now in appliances that did not exist a few years back. Perhaps having a narrower upright fridge and a separate freezer might fit your space more efficiently.(?) As well, Sometimes upper cabinets can simply be removed (without having to be 'ripped apart') and mounted elsewhere.

Yes, please do post a picture of your kitchen. That way we could see exactly what the space looks like and then would be able to offer suggestions specific to your individual situation.

I had that problem when we moved out of the turn of the century house we were living in. I owned all the appliances and had gotten a larger fridge that I put on a wall that had nothing on it for cupboards or anything. It didn't fit in the cubicle made for the fridge, but had that open wall available. When we moved, it was way too big for the spot in the kitchen, so it went in the garage as my spare. When we replaced the appliances, I was able to find a larger fridge that fit in the spot with about two inches to spare. I was able to purchase one of the French door ones with the lower drawer freezer. My big fridge is still out in the garage with my chest freezer, and still works great, even with the heat in the summer and freezing in the winter. Normally they would go in the basement, but neither would fit down the stairs. We had to remove the doors of the fridge to get it out of the doorways when we moved.

CONSIDER EATING LESS FOODS THAT NEED A FRIDGE. REMOVE MUSTARD AND OTHER ITEMS THAT DO NOT NEED TO BE REFIRERATED.

BUY UPRIGHT FREEZER FOR ANOTHER LOCATION THEN PURCHASE A FRIGE WITHOUT A FREEZER. PERHAPS INSTALL A COMPACT FRIDGE
