Cat peeing in new garden

I have built a new garden with new topsoil and my cat is using it for a litter box any suggestions how to stop this. I have put on grass seed and added some perenials to the garden are and he is peeing just in the garden beside the hostas..
There are plastic strips that have "points" which cats will avoid. Or surround the area with pungent marigolds, or spray lavender, cloves, or eucalyptus around the perimeter.
I had this problem in my raised bed many years back. I put several mouse traps in random spots in the garden, particularly the few spots that were most frequently used. End of that problem.
place plastic forks with prong up, use citrus peels and oils, garlic and hot pepper sprays....use anything with strong odors repeat as necessary

Hi Vick, add some lavender, rue, or penny royal plants to your beds and they should keep the cats away. They hate the smell.
