I think tic tac toe is great for all ages. It's such a great calm game for kids of all ages. I have mine in the dinning room and everyone loves it, but it is also great for backyard fun. Here's how you can make one!

First step is to create your frame. Start by cutting 4 2x4 15" long and a 45 degree angle to make a square and then nail them together.

Next cut your bead board 14 7/8 x14 7/8 " to use as your inserts. This should fit in the box nice and snug (inside the 2x4" box (frame)). Next cut 9 2x4 at 2.5" long these will be the tic tac toe pieces.

To insert the bead board into the box we will use one of are pieces on top to get the height just perfect, so it will be flesh with the top of the box. Then you will take 4 13" pieces of quarter round and nail at that height around 2" deep for the top making sure it flesh with the top.

Now you can stain or paint the box and blocks the color you desire. I chose blue stain for my pieces and brown stain for my box.

Next you'll need to cut out vinyl. I used a cricut machine that my mom has and to make and 2" X and a 2" O and place on each block and painted white.

Here you see the vinyl X & O

Then apply the vinyl firmly to the block so you will not get bleeding X on one side and let it dry.

Then flip block over and paint an O on that side.

Once that is dry remove the vinyl and pull slowly!

Once you are done you should have 9 blocks with O on one side and X on the other.

Then place in the box and you're ready to play!
