Pinch back the stems to encourage bushier growth. Have you fertilized? Are you providing sufficient sun?

Hello. You can cut them. When my hanging baskets get thin and spindly I give them a trim.

definitely pinch them back. You can do it severely and in 2 weeks they will be bushy and look great.

Yes, trim the stems back and remove all any blooms that have had their day. Fertilize, fertilize, fertilize, water, and you will love your petunia once again!

Hi Gladys, try pinching back to a side shoot if there is already more than one branch from the root. If there is only one growing stem, pinch back a few inches from the ground, leaving necessary leaves to feed the new growth...then feed it with a fertilizer for blooms. It should then form other branches and produce a mound of flowers rather than on long stem.

  • Yes, pinch them back. They won't look great right away, but give them a couple of weeks.

Always pinch back your petunias. I pinch right behind where they have bloomed but sometimes farther back because I like full, not leggy petunias. They keep blooming for a couple months more.
