How to water plants when gone on vacation

    A drip or irrigation system run by a battery powered timer(if you don't have electric to that area) would be a good idea... but it would require some preparation to get it installed .... but it would work even after you come home

    Soaker hoses, in garden areas, set on a timer. Group pots together and attach a small water sprinkler to your outdoor spigot, on a timer. Indoors, place plants atop pea gravel set inside boot trays, etc., with water. Plants should soak up water via capillary action.

    when potting your plants used strips of nylon from the top of your pot to the base. Always have a base or bottom for the pot. Place water in the base when leaving for a short trip. If it extended you can tie more nylon strips to your pots and place them in a 5 gallon bucket with water. Try this before you leave to make sure how much water your plants use.

    Depends on how long you are going to be gone, but you can use either a 1 liter bottle of 2 liter bottle filled with water and turn upside down in pot or outside. It will fill a needed Or you can find the cute ones at the dollar store but they don't last very long.

  • Place them in your bathtub (s) and sinks with an inch or so of water. Since your house will be closed up tight, it will be a greenhouse effect and should be good for 1 to 2 weeks.
