We put a planter around our yard light We used treated 4x4's around ours and planted a bunch of bulbs. I have seen some people put some large rocks around the pole, or bricks, etc.
A thin sheet of aluminum, the kind that furnace ducts are made with. Take the measurements to the store with you. They come in bright aluminum, and you could paint it to blend in with your grass, but I'll bet the weed whacker could take that off. It shouldn't cost much, Chr.
Flowers and mulch.

Trim by hand or plants and mulch.
Hi there, Why not make a small ring or square of bricks or pavers or slabs around the pole, that way the strimmer won't do any damage and you might get away with using only the Mower around that area...........
How about a metal collar? May not look the prettiest, but will certainly serve it's purpose.
I put a piece of metal and since my post is black I put black wide electrical tape tightly over it so weed wicker doesn’t ding my post and you can always retake it
Hi Bill, you have a couple options here, you can put some weed blocker at the base of the pole and put some rock around it, so you don't need to weed whack there. Or you can, put some form of flashing or metal at the base to protect the post, you can make your own or purchase them
