How about a "runner" of items expressing your theme down the center of the table.

You see a lot of these around the major holidays, but not so much for ordinary events.

A summer dinner party? How about glasses filled half way with water and a pretty bloom floating in it? Different heights of glasses with different levels of water. Or a different bottles, each with a flower in it. I keep a big collection of pretty bottles to use as vases when I pick a bloom to bring inside! Some of those olive oil bottles are beautiful...not only in color but the labels which I am careful to leave on. If you want your flower to stand up straight, put the stem in a clear drinking straw!

Then turn some wine glasses upside down (again different heights) and placing short candles of various shades of your theme color on the bottom of the stem. Add some greenery and you have a simple table decoration.

If it still looks incomplete, add some fresh fruit and nuts in the shell around.

You could use broken tiles, glass or different material to make a mosaic design on the top. Or tile it with a pretty tile. Or use colorful beads and grout. You can use one color, mulitple, with or without a pattern. Could put your initial in the pattern. Get some Mod Podge, a pretty napkin or anything and Mod Podge it on. Paint the legs in coordinating color and probably the top so wood doesnt show under whatever you do. Enjoy you beautiful new project.

Most of these table tops are made with pressed wood. Caution needs to be used if painting. Oil based primer should be used if you decide to paint due to possible swelling or you can use oil based sealer. If not done one bump if you place water based on it your top will swell.

cover with a contact paper you like and then it will be waterproof for further decorations.

Thanks everyone for your great answers!

I am planning to use this table in my daughter‘s dorm room.

I think, I either modpodge it, paint it using your suggestions or put some contact paper. Maybe the legs, I’ll cover them with Washi tape.

Since this table will be use in a dorm room, I will like to use the most durable and beautiful decor method.

    Thanks!!!

Depending on your style, you could get 3 either old boots, heels or sneakers, 3 different legs from old pants or jeans. PVC pipe cut to length to fit table legs. Place poly fill around the PVC in middle of each pant / jean leg

use a 6000 glue or hand stitch shoes to pants before filling. College colors, logos, sayings /mottoes can be written, burned on the table top, place copied pictures, letters whatever the owner wants and piece of Plexiglas at Lowes or Home Depot & can be cut to size for a smooth table topper! Good Luck!

These ideas are incredible. You can't go wrong with any of them. I read them and all I can say is "WOW.

  • You could paint a fun design on the top. You could block out different areas with painter's tape and do like a color block with different colors ? Or you could cover the top with contact paper?

i just need to figure out the legs, either paint them or cover them with Bakers twine or Washi tape.

Thank you so much everybody for your amazing ideas and positive input.

Where did you buy that table? Walmart used to sell them and now I can't find them anywhere.

Try Bed Bath & Beyond or any thrift store, I was lucky and got 2 new in their boxes, 1 round and 1 square.

Good luck in your hunt 🤞🏻

Mhm, maybe to paint it in another color or to buy more decorations. Prime, paint and stencils or cover with a contact paper you like and then it will be waterproof for further decorations also are good ideas what was mentioned before. I know that today people prefer to do not buy or use tablecloths anymore ( I do not know why exactly, what kind of trend it is ). Some days ago I have ordered some tablecloths for my home and restaurant from https://iqlinens.com/ I was very surprised of the quality.
