A real stone veneer would make a timeless change. Brick is an excellent base to start from and putting a stone layer on it is a great project. There are so many beautiful choices to choose from you may have a hard time making up your mind. You could put a stacked stone, regular stone or a stone tile. Here are some examples that I've done, stone on a porch or on fireplaces. And my daughter did an outdoor kitchen with stacked stone.
