How do I remove old indoor/outdoor carpet glued to my front door steps

This was on the stoop when I bought and it is disgusting with years of dirt and moss. I have tried pulling it away but think I need some kind of solvent as it is really glued down! Once it is off I want to paint but probably need to remove the glue first.

How To Remove Carpet Glue From ConcreteFlooring

    1. Scrape the carpet glue off with a scraper.
    2. Use boiling water to soften the glue.
    3. Scrub the leftover glue with a heavy duty scrubber.
    4. Use a powerful adhesive glue remover.

Just a small area of concrete to remove the glue? Use the Ironing method..

    Hi Mge,

To help get the carpet off, you can use a heat gun to soften the solvent through the carpet and use a scraper to lift the carpet, but be careful you don't burn the carpet. Another option would be to wait for a bright sunny day and let the sun warm the carpet. Cut it into smaller sections to see if that helps. You can then use adhesive solvent to remove the adhesive from the stoop. Most articles on this topic say to remove the carpet before using solvent but you might try applying it to a corner of the carpet to see if it will soften the adhesive that way. Getting all of the adhesive off the stoop will be the toughest part. Use an adhesive solvent and a scraper and do your best to remove all of it. Here's an article that might help. Wishing you the best.

Use a glue remover and probably have to use a chisel and powerwash before paintin..buy concrete paint with primer in it

I have done this, not fun. Pull it up and try boiling water with a scraper. Clean it with a bleach with a bleach solution to kill the moss. You can also lightly sand the glue off. Good luck

I have never tried this, but possibly a HOT AIR GUN, heating the area a little at a time, and then lifting??????
