Definitely some kind of beetle, potato beetle I think because I don't see anything crawling around. Spray with an organic insecticide or mix some chopped garlic with water and spray.

lacking nitrogen...put grass clipping around the plant and water. U may also have insects. Look on under side of leaves. The grass worked for me! Amazing!!

manual checkssaltsttNitrogen is most necessary, but I have plenty from using wood chips, a bit of mushroom compost, and some Epsom salt to help set the fruit. Still have some beetle holes, but going to get beetle traps today. That should clear it up. A little organic insecticide and Dailey manuam checks are helpful too.

    Hi Sharon,

Take a look at this website above.

From the looks of your leaves, I would put in some companion plants that repel what maybe eating your cucumber leaves. Bum makes a good point about the nitrogen. Peas, corn, and beans (legumes) are excellent. Marigolds repel beetles, nasturtiums are distasteful to thrips.

I would also add some Epsom Salt on the soil, it is magnesium sulfate, a valuable nutrient to plants. Be careful to not get it on the plant. Just add a scattering on the soil. If it is a slug of snail doing this, the ES will dissolve them.

Take a good look at both sides of your leaves to see if you can catch the culprit.

This is the work of the cucumber squash beetle...also could be what we lovingly call stink bugs here in Virginia. These beetles have sucking mouth parts and picture the plant, leaving the spots that you see. Look on the underside of the leaves for the eggs; they are small like brown or bronze colored beads. Remove them by using a stick to scrape them off.
