This year for July 4th, I wanted to create some decor that had a vintage feel to it. So, why not an all-American slogan on a salvaged cabinet door? Click HERE for my entire tutorial and all the details!
As soon as I spotted this red, salvaged cabinet door at my local Habitat ReStore, I knew it would be perfect for some July 4th decor! So, I decided a sign with retro appeal would be just perfect for it. Here's how I did it...
Even though it was red, it was too "pinky-red" for my vintage sign idea, so I prepped it for re-painting by giving it a thorough sanding with my orbital sander.
After painting the outside frame a warmer red, I focused on the interior, which I painted white. I think lighted sanded it again for a slightly distressed look, which matched my vintage idea.
Now it was time to stencil in my all-American slogan and could tie in some blue paint! I also added in one more detail that was the final touch- THIS was the perfect detail to finish off my sign - isn't it great?
Voila- Red, white, and blue decor in the form of a retro inspired sign! Happy 4th of July, everyone.
