    Blow dryer.

A hair dryer will soften the tape adhesive to make it easier to peel.

Next time, pull it off while the paint's still damp.

Yeah, that heat really makes it hard to get off. First scrape with a flat razor blade. Then get some pure acetone, put it on a rag and wipe the sticky off.

Normally, painter's tape should just peel off gently. Was it a major brand name, or a no-name/$ store product? Generally it is removed as soon as the paint is dry to touch , but it sounds like it may have been left on the glass far too long to expect it to behave normally.

I would suggest saturating it with a sponge, then try to scrape it off. To remove any 'stickiness' that may remain on the glass, use something non-scratch such as cotton balls, dabbed in vegetable oil.
