Hi Robynne, If it is porcelain on cast iron it could be rust seeping through. You can buy those denture fizzie cleaners like alka-seltzer at Dollar Tree fill with water and let one or two overnight! If it is higher than your overfill drain then dissolve on wet wash cloth, lay over brown spot and maybe that will remove the stain. Let an old school professional do re-surfacing. It’s worth the money!;)🌺

Peroxide might work. IF rustsalt and lemon juice. Might try rub with soap, then cover paper towels and wet with bleach. Leave over night. From what I understand, porceline is enamel.
