It is very hard to tell from a picture whether or not this is an antique cabinet. You have to look at things like nails and finish and how the joints were put together. You just can't see well enough in a picture. This looks small or perhaps you can take it to a local antiques dealer and ask. They are usually very helpful.
It looks more like a vintage reproduction than an antique... and it may or may not have been home built.
Doesn't matter. If it looks good, pretend.
Any name of id marks stamped on it?
Sorry should be "or" not "of".
Tara, it could be vintage, or antique. The finish, the materials used to build it, etc. would give an antique dealer a better idea, in person. If you are wondering about its monetary value, that is the route to go. If you want to repurpose it or paint it for your own use, know that antiques are only of value if there are collectors out there willing to buy them. Some antiques have lost value due to a lack of demand for them. It reminds me of an old cabinet I used to own, that had originally been a radio cabinet that was built in the early 20th century. Take a picture to a dealer and ask them if they have anything similar. Do some browsing and see if you find something like yours. Remember, the price they are asking will be considerably higher than what they would be paying for such a piece.
Hi Tara! Whether it’s an Antique or Simply Vintage its a beautiful piece! I actually had an old Victrola I dragged that piece with me everywhere until it was finally destroyed when Galveston flooded.
I used it to set up albums and my VCR ,Then later ,Albums and DVD player.
Yours would look nice with an old phonograph and some albums or 45’s featured behind glass.
Before doing anything if you’re concerned about the true quality and value I’d have it professionally check out.
Good Luck ☘️ And Enjoy such a lovely find!
