There is a very talented lady, named Diane Henkler, she has a blog called In My Own Style ...she painted her formica counter tops in her new home to look like Carrera Marble! There is nothing this lady cannot do...she has done her whole new home one room at a time and shows photos and tells about the product she uses and gives step by step instructions as well...she has this project in her archives on her blog...just go there and check it out!

I've painted over brick fireplaces before, but this stone is rough. The top of the hearth looks like smooth marble, but the bottom is the same rough stone.

There’s lots of good advice, particularly about prepping Formica countertops. Preparation being the key to almost everything.
