I bought a new bed about two weeks ago, it's made of fabric and when changing the sheets I see this strange spider which I killed, never seen one like this before. I have looked but the closest one is a Huntsman Spider. The bits I have got worst everyday and itching would not stop. I think that because I take so many medications probably it helped that it could not get worst. The bed came with a Notice sticker that gives info Made in Malaysia, MUAR, JOHOR MALAYSIA. I live in Puerto Rico and we do not have spiders like this one. Can anyone tell me what is it called and if the bits can cause sever conditions? Added foto. Thank you for your support.

  • Yikes! Chances are you were bit by the spider. I would see your doctor immediately and take this spider with you and / or to the nearest poison control center. If you wish to pursue it, you could take legal action against the place you purchased the bed from, but it might be hard to do.

    Hi Lucy,

Since the spider bites are still getting worse, my suggestion would be to go to a doctor or a nearby clinic. If this is a Huntsman Spider, I'm sure you've seen that it can have severe effects on your health. Good luck, I hope you heal quickly.

Agree, see a doctor. Large spiders very frequently have stiff hairs like you see on your dead one and they kick them off at predators to act as a deterrent as they are very irritating.

Remind self never to purchase bed from Malaysia.

This spider looks exactly like Huntsman spiders we have in Australia; we have found them relatively harmless... but who knows when they feel threatened.
