Here in central Texas it is hot!

New growth on roses, honeysuckle, pumpkins, squash, etc. shrivel up and become crunchy in a matter of a few hours. The roses are five years old honeysuckle three years old. I have never seen anything like this. They are watered. What are your suggestions?? Also should I prune them back right now or would it stress them even more? I had been wondering if pruning would leave less for the roots to nourish??? Please help! This is sad.
My son said he has never seen the ground so dry that grass burrs can't live.
We have always had a problem with them.
