Outdoor Ottoman

3 Materials
4 Hours

We have enjoyed our outdoor area very much this summer. The longer we spend time out there, I realize an ottoman would be helpful. Sooo I decided to make one.

These are the primary supplies-thrift store pillows, wicker vinyl and velcro.

I sketched out the pattern based on the measurements of the pillows.

Fabric cut out.

Bottom fabric pieces cut out.

I pinned and sewed the bottom pieces on.

I used leather sewing machine needles when sewing vinyl.

Sewing the bottom on.

I pinned the corners together and sewed until I reached the start of the bottom piece.

I pinned the velcro on the bottom pieces/flaps.

I pinned the sides of the bottom pieces/flaps and sewed them for a more finished look.

After sewing all the fabric, I put the pillows inside. I originally planned to use 4 pillows but it wasn’t as full as I wanted, so I added 1 more.

The left pic is me closing the first flaps and the right pic is me closing the second set of flaps. Keep in mind that you don’t necessarily have to do to sets, I did because I wanted to cover the bottom pillow as much as possible because we get a lot of rain.

Finished product!

Looks like I’ll have to make another one!:)

What a cute idea! And I am new to sewing so I didn’t know to use a leather needle for vinyl so that’s good to know!
