Often the problem with rental property looking neat is that Renters often do not care about the condition of the yard and are not always careful to fix anything or not build an addition without your permission. You really do not have a way to enforce neatness unless it is written into your rental agreement.

Also. there is the law of "peaceful enjoyment" that makes it impossible for you to put your wishes above theirs!!! People complain about HOA's, but they became necessary to keep down the trashy look in the neighborhood.

If you want "good curb appeal" you will have to fund it and do the work or hire it done. You can plant pretty flowers, but you can't make people keep them watered or weeded.

You could add some potted plants out front that you can take with you when you move. Also you could add some solar lighting.

It depends on what you are working with and the rules. Adding a wreath and colorful potted plants is simple. Here's a plant stand I built for my front porch: https://www.charlestoncrafted.com/2017/07/01/diy-3-tiered-corner-plant-stand/

Quinn...Check with landlord and see if he cares for you planting..if he says no you can always do container flowers..pretty pots with bulbs or seeds or flowers from a nursery. I plant but also have flowers in containers. Good luck!

    Paint and flowers

Potted flowers or ask landlord for permission to create flower beds, and put a fresh coat of paint, also clean windows inside and out.

The stake type mini flag holders are a nice way to jazz up the yard without damage. If you decide to put out yard gnomes or anything cute for color, dont put them on the lawn, just on the concrete and don’t get carried away so it looks tacky. The landlord will hate that. If you cluster around three different sized items together that should be enuf to stamp your personalized taste in the yard!

A well mowed or clean yard area and some colorful potted plants. If there's a porch hang a couple of hanging plants. You don't have to leave them after the place is rented, but it may give the idea to your new renters. Good luck!
