What can i do to make my fireplace pop; without painting it?

    Adhere glass or ceramic tiles to surface. If you plan to use fireplace, all materials must be fire/heat safe.

    New mantel, cover the existing surround with fake stone or brick, if you don't use it convert to hold a shelving unit, add a brightly colored fire place screen or stencil a pattern on the existing surround.

    I too had a red brick fireplace, which stood out like a sore thumb. I bit the bullet and simply tan washed it, using a water diluted mix of latex paint (eggshell finish) that matches the light tan mortar. I matched the mortar (tan) so that everything would blend. (I was afraid that white would make the brick look pink.) The whole thing turned out great, and the natural variation in the brick gave the same subtle variation to the 'tan washed' result. Good luck.
