Best way to paint bathroom ceramic tiles.

This bathroom does not get much traffic and I would like to paint a lighter and more neutral color. Also would like the grout to be separate color. All suggestions appreciated.

There are companies that specialize in refinishing and changing the color of ceramic tile in kitchens and bathrooms.... also consider this... most stone yards that sell granite counter tops... have remnant pieces that they sell at greatly reduced prices.... consider replacing just the flat part of the counter top (which would include the front edge....it might even be possible to reuse the sinks and faucets (although new faucets may not be very costly.. and a high rise faucet can add more style and function).... or if the counter and sinks are too low for comfort... consider replacing the under mount sinks with vessel sinks.... You could also stencil the back splash tiles to look like encaustic tile (google search : encaustic tile... choose the "more images" selection to see a selection of patterns.)

The grout can be changed by colored sealant, I’ve never painted over tile...I’ll let some one else handle that part

honestly....I think this is a beautiful sink and tile countertop. I love the copper brown. Painting ceramic tile needs an experienced touch. It's very challenging to paint and leave/paint the grout another color. Why not upgrade your faucets and cabinets? You may find that your countertop is the prettiest thing in this bathroom. It looks like it's in mint condition!

Thanks for your comments. The picture does not show the tile surface is worn down from the 30 years the previous owners 4 kids used daily. Also the grout has deteriorated and missing and many places. Plus the cabinet in breaking apart. Maybe a remodel is in my future.

I like the color and if it were mine, I would keep it. Look at a color wheel on line and pick out some becoming accessories and towels in a complementary color.

Hi shelly, most hardware store sell paint specifically for tiles and it’s all about the prep work you need to do before painting. Here’s a great video that will show you how to paint those tiles around the basins. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYkCuIAJca8&t=114s WRT to the grout lines, you can use a grout pen to recolor them after painting

    • It is clean, no broken grout, don't fix what is not broken. Get accessories to go with the tiles. Nice yellows, Blue,Fuchsia.Yellow.Mint.Turquoise.Gold.or Orange.

change the wall color to go with whatever colors you are choosing for that room
