How to make a gate for my patio

How to make a gate to go with my fenced off privacy patio out of plastic lattice. Needs to be able to close and lock from both sides. Would like it to close behind the person walking through it. Would like to be able to light it as well. And to know when someone has opened it.

So you need a gate with a spring to self close and a gate alarm (aka pool gate alarm)

You can build this with wood or plastic lattice, plastic will be stronger and last longer

A sensor light placed in the vicinity will provide the light you want when someone approaches the gate. If it had a double or two way hinge on it the gate would would close behind whoever went thru. A two way hinge allows the gate to be opened in either direction but always goes back to the middle position on its own.

It does not sound as though plastic lattice has enough weight and durability to do all that you are looking for.

Yoh must not have worked with plastic lattice before

Agree with Lisa. Plastic lattice will not suffice.

A gate, to function properly with any longevity, needs to be sturdy and solid. It needs to be wind resistant, and heavy enough to support the hardware. It will also require correctly installed posts to stay anchored, and not succumb to the swinging motion.
